Getting Ready only 5 more days!!!
Got the RV washed today! Also Sheila & I went to AAA got a lot of books on all the sites we will be visiting. We both are so excited about it I am sure we sound like we are bragging. But not! We know how lucky we are & how hard we have worked to get to this place in our lives. We are thankful God has given us this opportunity to see some of his creations! Today I worked a little re-arranging things in the RV so the things Sheila & I use more often would be easier to get to than the things used only once an a while. Taking my dogs tomorrow for their hair cuts for the trip also picking up some new name tags for their collars with my cell phone number on it. We are down to only 16 days now before we hit the road so we are trying to get a head start getting everything done early so we want be rushed or tired when we start out. Say a prayer for us & keep your fingers crossed. We hope to have a fun but safe trip of a life time!!!

Deciding What to Take on our Trip
Sheila's thoughts......
How do you plan what to take on a 30 day RV trip? You need everything including the kitchen sink as Mom would say, so thank goodness the RV does have that all ready! Now we are going to be gone the whole month of September so the weather could be hot, warm, cool and even down right cold in some of the places we plan to visit. I have always had a tendency to over pack but I think I need to try not to do that this time, although we have plenty of room in the RV after 30 days things could get a little cramped.
Besides clothing, food, and the essential personal items we also have to take along a computer (or 2 or 3) and a printer, paper, work files, and cell phones so that we can stay in touch with the world, family and unfortunately work!! We also need maps, touring/sightseeing guides, RV campsite books, and much, much more.
We have also tried to figure out if we need to take some other type of transportation just in case we have a flat tire or we don't want to drive the RV everywhere. We looked at bicycles, 3 wheelers, scooters, mopeds, wheelchairs (since we are so old and feable!) and the best would be a Harley Davidson motorcycle. So then we would not only be the RV sisters but we could be the RV Hog sisters! What a hoot! Or should I say what a snort!
Anyway we are now in the process of making our list of items to take and who takes what so we don't duplicate each other.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciate, but keep the list short.

Getting RV ready for the road
Just got off the phone with repair shop. Had to order 4 new tires today. I bought one in April & Sheila bought one in June to replace flats we had & todays purchase gives us 6 new tires total for our trip. We are getting excited!! This past weekend while at Sheila's we went over the maps, routes & camp; locations we plan to take. I surely hope we can get it all in within our 30 days! We hope you follow us

Planning our trip

Joyce and I have been planning our first RV trip since June 2010 and have plans to travel from Rocky Mount, NC out west to several National Parks and back in 30 days. We have reviewed several different routes between 5400 to over 6000 miles total. We have plans to leave Friday Sept 3, 2010 and must be back before Oct 1st. I have requested 4 weeks vacation from my job and my boss has agreed reluctantly and asked if we could be back in 2-3 weeks instead. Finally, he said ok go ahead but just make sure he had enough money in the company to last until I get back and that I check in with him everyday. I have purchased a Verizon wireless flash drive and tested it while in Yellowstone with Robbie in June and it works fine so now we just have to get the plans set up and confirm where we are going and how long we can take to get there and back.
Joyce took the RV into the repair shop today to get it checked out and everything running smoothly before we leave. Hope it doesn't cost too much but we want to make sure we get off on a good start. We had our first trip back in June to Williamburg, VA and on the way back we had a flat tire that took over 5 hours to get replaced. We do not want to have that happen again.
